The Ultimate Fighter Finale - Main Card Breakdown and Predictions
This past Tuesday marked the end of this season of the Ultimate Fighter with knockout artist Urijah Hall and underdog Kelvin Gastellum both posting impressive finishes over Dylan Andrews and Josh Samman respectively. Now, this Saturday night, the two finalist meet to determine this season's champion alongside a women's bantamweight tilt between Cat Zingano and Miesha Tate to determine TUF 18 opposing coach to Ronda Rousey and an intriguing match between crowd favourite Urijah Faber and 4-time Fight of the Night winner, Scott Jorgensen. Join us now for our predictions for what is shaping up to be an entertaining free card this Saturday night.
Bubba McDaniel vs Gilbert Smith: McDaniel, a Team Jackson fighter and sparring partner of Jon Jones, failed to live up to his credentials during this season of TUF, but now has the chance to rectify past mistakes against Smith, who lost in the first round of the tournament. I expect McDaniel's experience to take over against Smith raw physical strength en route to a second round finish. Bubba McDaniel via second round TKO.
Travis Browne vs Gabriel Gonzaga: Browne suffered his first professional lost in his last fight after sustaining a torn hamstring in the first round. I sense the loss lit a fire over the Hawaiian heavyweight who will come out fast and strong over the resurgent Gonzaga. Travis Browne via first round KO/TKO.
Miesha Tate vs Cat Zingano: Zingano comes into this fight with quite a bit of hype behind her, with an unbeaten record and 6 finishes in her 7 pro fights, yet Tate has faced and come out on top over stiffer competition than her opponent and will likely use her impressive wrestling and submission skills to keep Zingano from mounting any serious offence in my top candidate for Fight of the Night. Miesha Tate via Unanimous Decision.
Urijah Hall vs Kelvin Gastellum: Gastellum came into this season of TUF as it's youngest competitor and biggest underdog, yet finished all three of his opponents in the house in the first round, including heavy favourite, Josh Samman. But I think his streak will come to an end at the hands of Urijah Hall who Dana White has been raving about this entire season and who's varied striking arsenal will just be too much for the still developing Gastellum. Urijah Hall via second round TKO.
Urijah Faber vs Scott Jorgensen: Faber, one of the most popular lighter weight fighters to never hold a UFC belt, has stumbled at his attempts at gold in his last 5 championship outings, but has outclassed every other fighter he's faced when not competing for the belt. The trend will more than likely continue against Jorgensen who is an incredible fighter in his own right, but just not on Faber's level. Urijah Faber via Unanimous Decision.
