It didn’t take long for promotions to bring their shows to Ontario now that the sport of mixed martial arts has been legalized. One of the first to do so is Maximum Fighting Championship, who will put on MFC 29: Conquer, live from The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor on April 8.
Earlier today, the promotion announced via press release that the co-main event will feature MFC Middleweight Champion Douglas Lima taking on the heavy handed UFC veteran Terry Martin in what is guaranteed to be a wild affair.
Martin has put together three straight victories, including a knockout of Josh Martin in a performance last December. In his career, which spans nearly eight years, Martin has victories over former UFC title challengers Chael Sonnen and Jorge Rivera, as well as jiu-jitsu ace Ivan Salaverry.
At 17-4, Douglas Lima is among the most underrated talents in the sport. He has five straight victories, and 11 of his victories have come via submission. At only 23, Lima is one of the brightest prospects in the sport and will be looking to continue making his name against the knockout native in Martin.
The card is headlined by a light-heavyweight title fight between Emanuel Newton and Ryan Jimmo. The card also features UFC veterans such as former title contender Hermes Franca, as well as notables Marcus Davis, Drew Fickett, and Pete Spratt.
